Wild Adventures With Abi: Campground Walks, Animal Watching, and LumiNights

Our October trip to Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia, gave Abi her own version of a safari weekend. She could join us at Safari Campground, although she couldn't enter the theme park. Her favorite part? Walking along the fence and looking at the animals.

That simple detail is worth sharing with other RV travelers: a trip can include a theme park without every activity being something your dog can join.

Abi's adventure stayed outside the park

For Scott, Barbara, and Abi, campground time was part of the trip itself. Abi enjoyed those fence-side walks and animal watching. That's our experience from this visit, rather than a promise of animal sightings from every campsite.

Keep your dog on the campground side of barriers, give animals space, and follow staff directions. A relaxed walk is plenty; there is no need to approach or disturb wildlife.

Know where your dog can go

Wild Adventures allows pets at RV and tent sites, with restrictions. Outside, pets must be leashed and attended, and owners must clean up after them. Pets cannot stay in cottages or enter campground buildings. Pets are also not permitted in the theme park or Splash Island; service-animal rules are separate.

Read the official campground FAQs before booking. Park admission is separate from your campground reservation, so plan both parts of the visit.

Add a little fall glow

For the human side of a fall visit, Great Pumpkin LumiNights brings illuminated pumpkins, light displays, and seasonal entertainment inside Wild Adventures. The official 2026 event dates run through November 1 on scheduled operating days. It is included with regular park admission, but Abi's campground access does not include the event.

Check Great Pumpkin LumiNights details for the current calendar and admission information. Arrange care for your dog before heading into the park.

Abi's highlight was wonderfully straightforward: a walk with something interesting to watch. Sometimes that's the part of an RV weekend your dog enjoys most.
