Taking Abi to Wild Adventures: Our RV Weekend Plans in Valdosta

This weekend, we’re taking the travel trailer to Wild Adventures Safari Campground in Valdosta, Georgia—and Abi is coming along. We’re looking forward to a change of scenery, some campground time, and a weekend away together. This is our trip preview, rather than a review of a stay we haven’t taken yet.

Can your dog come along?

Wild Adventures’ campground FAQ says pets are welcome at RV and tent sites, with restrictions. They must stay leashed and supervised outdoors, and owners must clean up after them. Pets aren’t allowed in cottages or campground buildings, apart from service animals.

The important distinction: a pet-friendly campsite does not mean a pet-friendly theme park. Pets cannot enter Wild Adventures Theme Park or Splash Island Waterpark. Plan dog care before heading through the gates; taking turns visiting the park is one option.

A simple RV packing checklist

For a weekend with Abi, our checklist starts with her regular food, bowls, leash, waste bags, a familiar bed, and towels for muddy paws. Keeping everything together makes arrival easier and saves us from hunting through the camper for the one thing we need.

Leave room in the schedule for walks, water breaks, and quiet time. A short trip can still bring unfamiliar sounds and smells, especially at a campground beside animal habitats. Give your dog time to settle in and keep a comfortable distance from wildlife.

Before you arrive

The campground lists RV check-in at 1 p.m. and checkout at 11 a.m. Its FAQ says RV sites are back-in, and park admission is separate from a campground reservation. Check the current park calendar and pet rules before you travel.

We’ll share our own impressions after the trip. Until then, what’s your favorite RV stop to enjoy with your dog?
